Soccer (aka football to the rest of the world) has always been my favorite sport to play and to watch. I played it myself for a number of years and I kept up with World Cup games alongside my dad, a hardcore enthusiast who would wake up at 4am to catch games. Until I met Nick I never met anyone else with as much, or more, enthusiasm about the sport. Every day that there isn’t a game on, he plays FIFA, which means that the background noise is always a commentator saying “it’s Mascherano” or “on to Gerrard”.
So in my multimedia class when we were presented with the assignment of making an interactive promotional piece, I decided to promote soccer via this year’s World Cup. My idea is to merge promoting the World Cup with promoting a product such as soccer shoes/cleats. The two sites that display some of the tools I want to utilize are here and here. Basically my goal is to have shoes against a white background running and kicking a soccer ball on mouse rollovers, while incorporating information pertaining to the shoe’s features and the World Cup. I have yet to begin and have a lot to learn. We’ll see how it goes.
